What is Le Rêve?
Le Reve is an inspiration drawn from the 1932 oil painting by Pablo Picasso. Director Franco Dragone wanted to create something that could bring the theater, performance, and audience as one. He did it with his fascinating and ingenious work of art that you can’t find anywhere else.
The show features corresponding swimmers gliding through the water in an elegant ballet. Aerialists soaring through the air, dipping into the water-filled stage. The show revolves around a woman and her dream. She is torn between what she needs and what she wants. The plot focuses as she’s undecided between two lovers. One man is violent, aggressive, and abusive. With a lot of devil-like traits and yet she can’t resist. The other man is like a prince charming straight out of Disney stories. Nice, kind and everything in between. Yet she is not that attracted to him.
She dances with the bad guy as he throws her, scare her and leaves her for another woman at one time. Yet she remains with him and she remains till the final scene when she is no longer in the scene with him. And that’s the whole of it. The theme in itself isn’t much clear and doesn’t show what the message it is supposed to deliver is. However, the splashing water dances and thrilling dives are eye candy.
