89526911-295A musical concert by famous dancehall artiste Emmanuel Andrews Samini and his clique yesterday in Tamale, was halted following sporadic gunshots in some parts of the metropolis.

Ultimate News’ Eliasu Tanko has gathered that a clash between family members of a woman accused of witchcraft and youth of Dagbandaba Fong resulted in the gunfire excahanges .

Sources say the incident happened at about 10:pm when a group of hell raising youth stormed the residence of the woman to force her to a witch doctor.

The youth had blamed the woman and some two others for recent ‘mysterious’ deaths in the area and launched the attack to force her to witch doctor.

The youth were acting in accordance with a widely accepted custom of some northern tribes which says a witch doctor can force out a truth from a person denying accusations of sorcery.

However, children of the accused in attempts to prevent the youth from arresting the woman fired several gunshots.

A violent scuffle ensued but there is still no record of casualty.

Ultimate News also gathered that the incident which lasted several minutes without the notice of the security agencies in the metropolis prevented a well advertised music show.

The show was to be held at the Tamale Sports Stadium by Samini and his High Grade Family (HGF) music group.

Organizers of the show, Smile Multimedia said the show was stopped because of fears of reprisal attacks.
“Some guys from Sagnarigu where the stadium is were said to be involved in the shootings and we fear there would be some reprisal attacks.

We expected a huge crowd and we believe the gunshots and some issues in the metropolis made people not to turn out. The expected crowd was not there as Samini would have expected it, so upon careful consideration and advice we decided not to hold the show yesterday”, Abubakari Saddique told Ultimate News.

Police in the region said the issue is yet to come to their notice.
